| 29 Sep 2011 | 03:53

Set for Saturday, Aug. 29, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Ringwood - A morning filled with late blooming wildflowers! Learning when and where to look for them will increase your chances of being able to catch these sometimes inconspicuous plants in bloom. Associate Naturalist George “The Professor” Petty leads the exploration through occasionally damp woodlands with two or three moderately steep climbs. Proper footwear and water required. Heavy soaking rain will postpone the hike to the next day. Hike meets at Pyramid Mountain; directions will be sent upon registration. The cost of the wildflower hike is $8 per person, with a $3 discount for members of the New Jersey Audubon Society. Pre-registration is required as space is limited. To register by mail, send your name, address, phone number, the number of participants and payment to: NJAS’ Weis Ecology Center, 150 Snake Den Road, Ringwood, NJ 07456. For more information, or to register with a credit card, contact the Weis Ecology Center office at 973-835-2160 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.
