Guided walk will feature edible plants
Frelinghuysen The Back To the Garden Potluck and Workshop on Friday, May 7 will feature a Wild Foods Walk led by Lara Greenspan. Walkers will leave Breathing Room Center in Frelinghuysen at 7:15 p.m. to explore some of the foods in yards, woods and wild places. Greenspan has been the chef at Mount Eden Retreat and Genesis Farm for many years. She has studied wild plants as food and medicine for most of her life. She regularly gives wild plant and wild mushroom walks as well as giving private consultations. A raw food potluck will follow after the walk. Raw food is a hot trend in adding healthy meals made with fruits, veggies, seeds, nuts and sprouts. Raw and living food recipes do not heat ingredients above 112 degrees to keep all the healthy enzymes normally killed in the cooking process. Enzymes help with digestion and food absorption. The Back To the Garden Potluck gatherings are held on the first Friday of the month along with a speaker, workshop, plant walk or film focused on how to eat more raw, living, seasonal, local and foraged foods. Participants should bring a raw dish or some healthy, local, vegan or foraged food to share. Events take place at Breathing Room Yoga and Healing Arts Center at 735 Rt. 94 between Newton and Blairstown. There is a $10 suggested donation.
