Guggenheim Grotto at the Mission

West Milford — Over the past three years Mick Lynch and Kevin May of pop/folk act The Guggenheim Grotto have touched U.S. and U.K. audiences in a way the duo couldn’t have imagined. From setting out as Dublin songwriter circuit regulars to building a devoted cult following here in the United States, the band has captivated audiences and taste makers on both sides of the pond with its mix of poetic, often literature-inspired lyrics set to timeless soaring pop melodies. Next Saturday, March 20, Music at the Mission hosts The Guggenheim Grotto with special guest Meg Hutchinson. The music begins at 8 p.m. The band’s debut album, Waltzing Alone, was self-released to immediate critical acclaim in Ireland on Sept. 9, 2005 and its first promotional single, “Told You So,” rapidly became a firm favorite on Irish airwaves. An American awareness of the band began to rise thanks to the support of many DJs. In November 2006 the band embarked on its first U.S. national tour. Now with four U.S. tours under its belt, the band has found itself having made huge in-roads with American audiences and industry alike - from playing listening rooms across the country to large festivals performing on taste maker radio programs to Charleston’s nationally syndicated Mountain Stage radio/TV show. Songs from the record have been used in major network prime-time TV shows like One Tree Hill and Brothers And Sisters and the band has met warm embraces from national and regional publications like Paste Magazine, The Boston Globe and The Washington Post. Meg Hutchinson is the special guest of the band. Hutchinson celebrates the release of her new album “The Living Side” which is already becoming a top-seller on iTunes and Amazon.
