Grant workshop open to arts groups

    Newton — The Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council is accepting applications from all Sussex County visual and performing arts groups, as well as from other non-profit organizations planning an arts project. Eligible organizations should appoint a member of their board of directors (usually the treasurer) to attend the Arts Grant Workshop on Thursday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Arts Council office at 133 Spring St., in Newton. Applicant non-profit organizations must be 501-C-3 certified, as determined by the IRS, and be governed by a board of directors that is responsible for policy and finance decisions. They must also comply with certain federal regulations and have a one-year track record of programs and services. Municipalities, schools and libraries may qualify. Someone from the applicant organization must attend the workshop in order for the organization to be eligible to receive funds. The application deadline is Oct. 30.
