Sparta — A ghostbike memorial ride in honor of the recently deceased Bent Rasmussen is planned for Saturday, March 28, starting at 9 a.m. at Beach Six of Lake Mohawk. Rasmussen was killed in a hit-and-run in Sparta and the ride will end at the accident site, on Main Street in Sparta, in front of the Municipal Building, where a ghostbike will be placed in his memory. The distance for the ride is 3.5 miles. Cyclists will be followed by those in vehicles that cannot ride. Cyclists are asked to ride no more than two abreast and follow all traffic laws. The ride will be led by Andreas Meyer and Rasmussen family members. The return ride will not be organized. The Rasmussen family has asked that donations be made in his memory to the Lake Mohawk Country Club, where a lasting enhancement to the boardwalk is planned as a tribute and memorial.
