Gallery 23 showcases artists of the month

Blairstown — The windows at Gallery 23 will feature the work of Jan Swift and Susan Marie David through July. There will be a reception for the artists on Saturday, July 18 from noon to 4 p.m. Swift, a retired art teacher, has had numerous one-woman and group shows. Her subject matter includes florals, abstracts, architectural settings, landscapes and fun paintings of chickens and roosters. Swift relies on basic painting principles of line, color, value, texture, shape and composition. She considers watercolor to be a particularly exciting medium. David uses unusual mixes of mediums and textures in designing her jewelry. She may match silver with sea shells, antique crystals with fine silver or gold wire, peridot with pearls, or string up to five strands of various stones into a one of a kind statement necklace.
