Four plays this season at The Growing Stage
NETCONG The Growing Stage’s Main Stage 2009-2010 season is set with four shows that will spark the imaginations of children and adults alike. The performances are adapted from popular children’s books and stories and one globally known ballet and begin on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. with “Miss Nelson is Missing!” The show follows a misbehaved class’ search for their nice teacher after being given the world’s meanest substitute. “The Story of the Nutcracker” begins Nov. 27. The original adaptation by TGS turns the ballet into a fully developed production that follows Clara and a prince, transformed into a nutcracker, on a journey to rescue the sugar plum fairy and to help the prince reclaim his crown from the Dowager Mouse Queen and her son. “Lyle the Crocodile,” premieres Feb. 19, 2010 and tells the story of a caviar eating, New York City loving, friendly crocodile who lives in a bathtub. “Peter & the Wolf” has a special performance on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. When Peter is told by his grandfather not to play in the meadow because there is a wolf lurking around, Peter does not listen. In Peter’s defense, what little boy would give up a sunny day outside due to the threat of a wolf? “Miss Nelson is Missing!” and “Peter & the Wolf” show Saturdays and Sundays at 4 p.m., while “The Story of the Nutcracker” and “Lyle the Crocodile” show Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m. School matinees for “Miss Nelson is Missing!” and “Peter & the Wolf” are available.
