HACKETTSTOWN — The eclectic folk musician and storyteller Mike Agranoff will perform at a special musical performance at Arts off Main Art Gallery in Hackettstown on Friday, Jan. 9, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Agranoff will be appearing as part of the gallery’s Music off Main at Arts off Main music series. He is known for his varied catalog of material ranging from ancient harp tunes to obscure Tin-Pan-Alley compositions using his fingerstyle guitar. He will also occasionally come out with a number on banjo, harmonica, or even nothing but his unaccompanied baritone. He performs arrangements of music by anyone from Bach to Joplin. A wordsmith and raconteur, Agranoff weaves stories and monologues which introduce and connect his musical numbers. He incorporates elements of the musical arrangement, vocal and facial expression, and an ability to put across a message or mood. Listeners find themselves singing choruses to songs they’ve never heard, or finding a new understanding of songs they’ve heard a million times. Agranoff has shared his love for music over the past 20 years at festivals, concert series, and coffeehouses throughout the northeastern United States and the United Kingdom. Tickets for the show are $7 and can be purchased at the door. Arts off Main is located at 128 Willow Grove Street near Route 46 and the Five Points Intersection in Hackettstown.
