First open mic of the year at Music at the Mission

West Milford — It is known as the best open mic outside of New York City and if you go on the first Saturday of the month, you won’t be disappointed. Whether you are a performer or someone who wants to listen, relax, and enjoy a good cup of coffee, the Mission open mic is a great way to spend a Saturday evening. Always a treat is the Mission Band, which performs at the open mic. Jan. 2 is the first open mic of the new year. Doors open and sign up begins at 7:30 p.m. Music starts at 8. Refreshments are available and Music at the Mission merchandise is also on sale: shirts, stickers, ceramic mugs and travel mugs. Musicians are limited to two songs or 10 minutes, depending on the crowd, which includes local musicians and those from all around the tri-state area. Upcoming open mics are Feb. 6, March 6, April 3, May 1, and June 5. Music at the Mission is located at the West Milford Presbyterian Church, 1452 Union Valley Road in West Milford.
