Chefs join together to help Project Self-Sufficiency
ANDOVER Project Self-Sufficiency will host its 13th annual annual “A Taste of Talent” at Perona Farms in Andover on Monday, April 12 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The gathering will bring together more than 30 of the area’s chefs who will offer samplings of their most popular dishes. The event will raise funds for the agency’s services to low-income families in Sussex County and the surrounding area. Since 1986 Project Self-Sufficiency has served more than 18,000 families, including over 30,000 children. Guests will be treated to an array of fare, ranging from hors d’oeuvres to entrees to desserts, while they mingle and chat with the chefs. Participating restaurants include The Walpack Inn, Perona Farms, Andre’s Restaurant & Wine Boutique, The Boat House, Bobolink Dairy, Café Pierrot, Casa Bellisima, The Chatterbox, Cheddar Alley, The Chocolate Goat Gift Shoppe, Cliff’s Homemade Ice Cream, Doc’s, George’s Wine & Gourmet Gallery, The Homestead Rest, Krave Café & Caterers, The Montville Inn, The Muir House, Pies On Wheels, The Prickly Pear Restaurant, Restaurant Latour, Restaurant Serenade, Ristorante Il Porto, Salt - A Gastro Pub, Tanti Baci Caffé, Chef Uwe Toedter Truffles, and Wok N’ Sushi. Russell Pagano, owner of the Walpack Inn, is serving as the culinary chairperson, responsible for preparing the hors d’oeuvres to be served at the special gathering for sponsors before the event officially opens to the public at 6:30 p.m. An onsite cooking demonstration will be offered in the kitchen of Perona Farms by owner Kirk Avondoglio. “We try to do anything we can to help the community, and Project Self-Sufficiency definitely helps the community,” said Avondoglio. Sarah and Rich Schindler are the “A Taste of Talent” honorary chairpersons. Sponsorships range from $500 to $15,000, and a limited number of individual tickets are available at a cost of $100.
