Centenary Stage Company concert season opens Oct. 24

    2009-2010 season offers entertainment for all tastes HACKETTSTOWN — The Centenary Stage Co. concert season opens Saturday, Oct. 24 with the annual return of the state’s dance company, the New Jersey Ballet, at 8 p.m. and again on Oct 25 at 5 p.m. This season The New Jersey Ballet celebrates 50 years of performing for audiences. Hailed by Willie Nelson as international stars with a “irresistible blend of blues, funk and soul” the Holmes Brothers will perform on Saturday Feb. 6, 2010 at 8 p.m. With a reputation for dizzying, diverse live performances, the group is comprised of Wendell and Sherman Holmes on guitar and bass, respectively, and Popsy Dixon on drums. Their performances range from a repertoire of low-down blues to gospel, to country and western and pop, each performance ratifying rave reviews from critics far and wide. The Celtic ensemble “Emerald City” performs a blend of traditional Irish music on the fiddle, guitar, flutes, whistles, mandolin, drums and more on Saturday, March 27, 2010. Gospel finger-picking guitarist Ernie Hawkins will perform on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 8 p.m. Having studied with the cream of acoustic blues players, Hawkins performances bring to life, among others, two of the most influential country bluesmen, Blind Willie McTell and Lightnin’ Hopkins. Ticket prices range from $20 to $22.50, with discounts for seniors and students. Tickets may be purchased through the CSC Box office at 908-979-0900 and online at www.centenarystageco.org. A special subscription value is available for all performances at CSC, which can be purchase in three various ways. Series A subscribers will receive all eight events for $85. The “Pick 5” subscription offers patrons any five events for $70. The Series C Subscription offers patrons all three theatre events for $45. The flex-plan allows for the exchange of tickets and theatre event for alternate dates, based on availability, when conflicts arise. CSCs Theatre Season will include the comedy “Clandestine Marriage” by David Garrick, Oct. 2 to 18, followed by the mystery “Underneath the Lintel” by Glen Berger Nov. 6 to 22, and will culminate with a celebration of Women’s History Month with Theresa Rebeck’s “Loose Knit” Feb. 19 to March 7.
