Celebrate the Garden at the arts council
Newton The Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council’s exhibit, Celebrate the Garden, showcasing local art, will be on display through July 11. This garden themed art exhibit is always done in collaboration with the annual Historic House and Garden Tour. The council is presenting a few local businesses as featured artists this month. Lafayette Clayworks owner/artist, Joyce Sullivan and artist, Pam Madzy, both have their wood-fired pieces on display in the front of the gallery. Clayworks, located in Branchville, offers classes in wheel throwing and hand building. Seasonal workshops in Raku and wood-fired pottery are also available. Lori Anzalone Avarella, of Lori Anzalone Illustration, is featuring a selection of her vivid illustration commissions, received from such companies as La Yogurt and Celestial Seasonings. Her husband, Russ Avarella, commercial photographer, is featured as well. Ellen Jaffe Cawthorne, painter, displays her oils of various flowers that burst with color.
