Call for artists to exhibit works focusing on the garden

Newton The Sussex County Arts & Heritage Council is accepting entries for its next members’ art exhibit, Exotica!, as in strikingly strange or unusual flora and fauna. Coinciding with the annual Garden Tour, taking place on June 19, the Exotica! exhibit centers around celebrating the garden, flora and fauna, botanicals, etc. Registration deadline and drop off is Sunday, June 6, noon to 3 or Monday, June 7, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Work must fit the theme - artists are encouraged to submit work interpreting the theme creatively. Wall pieces must be framed and wired ready for hanging, no saw tooth hangers. Entry fees are $15 per piece for up to 3 pieces. Volunteers who are able to gallery sit, will receive $5 off their entry fee for each piece. An opening artists’ reception will be held Saturday, June 12, 4 to 6 p.m. Three featured artists will be showcased: Carol Harris, artist, professional potter and teacher, with a broad experience in the arts with emphasis on ceramics, sculpture and textiles; Susana Barbetti-Norton, professional sculptor, potter and painter; Winnie O’ Dougherty, a painter with a widely diversified art career. Light refreshments will be served.
