Cabaret is a success

SPARTA Over 150 showed up to support the Sparta Education Foundation’s annual Cabaret on the Boardwalk on Saturday, March 13. “Given the state of the economy and the lack of state/federal funding, our school system needs all the help it can get. In fact, since the creation of the foundation a little over three years ago, we have issued grants for our schools in excess of $150,000,” said Kylen Anderson, President of the foundation. “The need now is greater than ever and it’s events like the Cabaret on The Boardwalk that enable the Sparta community supporters to get involved,” said Dorothy LaBeau, Chairman of the Cabaret on The Boardwalk. As part of the event a custom painted club car golf cart and trailer were donated to Sparta High School for their music and band dept. Andrew Lopez, Director of Music was on hand to accept it. The Caccavo Family, who recently moved to California from Sparta had donated the cart and had coordinated the donation with Chuck Chute a friend and neighbor. The cart was then custom painted and decaled by Carls’ Auto Body in Sparta and Kelly Evans from Sign’s Etc. “This was a coordinated effort by many people and it demonstrates that working together, we can accomplish anything,” said Dan Corrigan, Trustee. Anyone interested helping the foundation should visit www.SpartaEducationFoundation.org or call 800-905-SEF1 (7331). The mission of the Sparta Educational Foundation is to be a long-term not-for-profit 501(c)(3)foundation which serves by public support to raise funds for equipment and programs for the exclusive benefit of the Sparta Township Public Schools.
