“Anything Goes” at Cornerstone Playhouse
SPARTA Cornerstone Playhouse is marking its 30th anniversary with the performance of “Anything Goes,” the 1930s Cole Porter musical. The company has come full circle with this production as it was the very first musical they performed. And to take it one step further, Ray Gelpke, who performed the role of Moonface Martin in 1979, is back on the stage performing the same role this summer. “Anything Goes” takes place on a cruise ship making a trans-Atlantic crossing in the 1930s from New York to England and the confusing relationships that unfold on the journey. It is filled with such great Cole Porter classics as “Anything Goes,” “Blow Gabriel Blow,” “All Through the Night,” and “Friendship.” Scott Mason is the director of this production with Paul Diveriois musical director, choreography by Christine Mase and the assistant director is Anna Beth Prescott. The show dates are July 24 and 25 at 8 p.m. and Sunday July 26 at 2 p.m. Reservations for reserved seating can be made by calling 973-729-2120. Tickets are $13 for seniors and students, and $18 for adults. The theater is located at the Lake Mohawk Country Club, 21 the Boardwalk, Sparta and is handicapped accessible. Seating is limited.
