A portion of the July 27 Hardyston Township Council meeting focused on the sidewalk and property maintenance issues in the Indian Field community, a continuation of discussions from the June meeting. Council members and the public discussed the matter as it related to the Indian Field community and elsewhere in the township.

Councilman Stanley Kula asked if Ordinance 2022-10, establishing standards for the maintenance and repair of sidewalks and property maintenance, can be tabled. This would be in order to have a workshop session in August to further discuss the issue prior to introduction of an ordinance. Kula said it would be good to review each line and detail of the ordinance. The council voted 4-1 to table the ordinance. The council was asked to provide any comments and suggestions to Hardyston Township Manager Carrine Piccolo-Kaufer prior to the workshop. The date for the workshop would be provided after the meeting and the notice will be on the township’s website.

Fred Semrau, Hardyston Township attorney, suggested getting comments from the construction and zoning offices as well, so they have all that information for the workshop.
