Representatives from Girl Scout Trip 94879 told the Hardyston Township Council on Oct. 23 they want to build and register a Little Library for their Silver Award for community service

The Little Free Library is a non-profit organization with free libraries nationwide. The idea behind the free book sharing box library would be to “Take a Book, Leave a book, Read a Book” although it is not necessary to share a book in order to take one.

The girl scouts would be the primary caretakers of the library and raise the $40 to register it. Registered libraries have an official charter sign and number. Once there is a charter number, the library can be added to the world map of Little Libraries.

Councilman Stanley Kula congratulated and thanked them for participating in the community.

“You gave it lot of thought, and we support you,” Councilman Brian Kaminski said.
