Church selling donated books for less

HAMBURG — There is no Pop associated with the PoP’s Book Nook. PoP is shortcut for Prince of Peace’s Book Nook and is overseen and maintained by church parishioner Dawn Schofer.
Donated books are always accepted from pre-school age selections to adult. Fiction, paperbacks, biographies, history, as well as, hobby, scrapbooking, quilting and large print can be purchased for nominal fees with all proceeds benefitting the Prince of Peace Church.
Former school library volunteer and now Book Noon volunteer Schofer’s love of books is evident as she arranges and shelves the many books, DVDs and CDs available.
“For the book lover and voracious reader, the Book Nook is a convenient and economical solution,” said Schofer.
The sharing of used books also clears the clutter of books one has already read.
Church Pastor Rev. Stephen Vogt applauds Schofer’s dedication to the Book Nook and admitted that because of the Nook he is “reading again” and enjoying it.
The small parish operated the Prince of Peace Early Learning Center for 45 years but the center closed recently. The church currently hosts a food pantry at the Franklin Senior Center under the supervision of Carol Mollar.
Referring to the parishioners, volunteers and church, Rev. Vogt stated,” It’s all about the opportunities to serve people.”
The PoP’s Book Nook is open every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays from 3 to 6 p.m.
