Randy Allen Pittenger of Hampton Township passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 67.

Born in Newton, Randy was raised in the Clearview Lake section of Hampton Township and graduated from Kittatinny Regional High School.

He traveled around the country for eight years before coming back to Sussex County and eventually settling in the same lake community where he grew up.

Randy worked as a custodian at the Ole Lafayette Village and Christ Church in Newton. He became the caretaker of Baleville Cemetery and also Frankford Plains Cemetery.

His work at the cemeteries led him to start his business, R. Pittenger Monument Lettering. He truly enjoyed his work and excelled at his newly found profession.

He was a member of the Baleville Congregational Christian Church.

He had a love for local history and was an active member and president of the Hampton Historical Society. His favorite pastime was collecting arrowheads and silver, but ultimately, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family and was a great father to all four of his children.

Randy was predeceased by his father, Richard L. Pittenger Sr., in 2010.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Kathryn M.(Landgraff) Pittenger; his sons, C.J. LaStella and his wife Krista of Milford, Pa., Corey Pittenger and his wife Amanda of Livingston, and Dustin Pittenger and his fiancé Mickayla Saragusa of Hampton; his daughter, AmandaLee DeAlmagro and her husband Michael of Lake Hopatcong; his grandson, Salvatore LaStella of Milford; his mother, Louise (Boyer) Pittenger of Hampton; and his brothers, Richard L. Pittenger Jr. and his spouse Phillip Harwood of Wichita, Kan., Gary Pittenger and his companion Lena Courtright of Lake Ariel, Pa., and Mark Pittenger and his wife Dawn of Somerset.

Memorial services will be held at noon at the First Presbyterian Church, 54 High St., Newton, on Saturday, April 6.

Private cremation services have been entrusted to the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St. (Route 23), Sussex.
