Gerard (“Rod”) Cartier of Sparta, N.J., passed away on Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021. He was 59.
He was born on Aug. 19, 1961 in Passaic, N.J., to the late Joan (nee Berckmann) and the late James Cartier.
Rod married Lisa (nee Wall) in 1986 and resided in Sparta, where they raised their family.
He volunteered as a youth football coach and for Habitat for Humanity.
In his spare time, Rod was an avid fisherman, a passionate musician and most importantly a devoted friend.
He was predeceased by his loving parents, Joan in 2016 and James in 1993.
Rod is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa; his loving daughter, Elise Armstrong and her husband, Andy; his loving son, Jimmy Cartier; and his dear siblings, Craig, David, Jeanne, Patti, and Cathy. He was a proud uncle to all of his many nieces and nephews. He loved each and every one of them in their own unique way.
A memorial visitation took place on March 3, followed by Moments of Reflection, at the Stickle-Soltesz Funeral Home, Newfoundland, N.J. The final disposition will be private.
