Children pulled their parents to the Ogdensburg Municipal Park, April 13, to enjoy the Volunteer First Aid Squad Easter Egg Hunt. With pails and baskets in hand, they were ready to collect as many of the 1,000 colored plastic eggs filled with Hershey’s Kisses as possible.

The First Aid Squad rig siren sounded to announce the Easter Bunny arriving for the hunt. Precious little ones gave him hugs and later shared some of their plastic eggs with him.

First Aid Squad volunteer Pat Sabourin said the squad gathered one night to stuff the plastic eggs with the Hershey’s Kisses. For the hunt, she said, the volunteers then split the eggs into groups of 200 for each age group: Toddlers, Pre-K, Kindergarten, first grade, and second grade.

Sabourin added each age group also received one purple egg to open with a card inside saying, “winner.”

After five happy children found one of the winner eggs, they then received either a huge sports or art basket.

Stephanie DePinto chaired the event, along with many other volunteers, including three all new First Aid Squad members.

Within a short period of time, the children gathered all the 1,000 eggs and posed for photos with the Easter Bunny before going home.
