Hardyston paves way for housing development

HARDYSTON — Hardyston Township single family detached houses in the Crystal Springs CR Zone no longer need to have a lot size of 15,000 square feet, according to an ordinance passed on Feb. 27.
The Township Council passed an ordinance, reducing the required lot size to 7,500 square feet.
The development concept plans call for a single floor house in the 1500-2000 square foot range, 2-3 bedrooms at a cost of 330K-350K plus, depending upon upgrades.
“Numerous developers have said the market is no longer for 3,000-4,000 square-foot-sized homes,” Councilman Carl Miller said.
Deputy Mayor Stanley Kula said,
“There has been no progress in this development and maybe is a sign of the times that we can’t sell $500,000-$700,000 homes.”
Attorney Fred Semrau said passing the ordinance does not mean a concept plan is approved.
