Students in Ms. Fedynich's enrichment class at Franklin Borough School were excited to partake in the annual "Future City" competition at Rutgers University where 88 New Jersey middle school teams participated.
The students were required to design and build a city 100 years into the Future.
This year’s theme was “powering our future” where students were challenged to design a resilient power grid that could withstand and quickly recover from natural disasters. In addition to designing and building a scale model, the students completed a virtual city design using SimCity, a slide show, a 1,500-word essay, a project plan, and a presentation. All three teams placed in the top 20.
