Mountain Creek Resort and Hilltop Country Day School in Sparta plan to bring a ski-racing program for middle school students with a n interest in competitive ski racing.

The first program of its kind south of the New England area, Mountain Creek’s new ski racing academy follows programming for many current and past Olympic athletes. For the first time, New Jesrsey parents don’t have to send their children away to enjoy the benefit of daily access to coached skiing along with access to premier education, as Mountain Creek’s program is centrally located to provide the most time on the hill as possible, directly correlating in more developed ski skills and success.

“We are excited to partner with Mountain Creek to provide this incredible opportunity for middle schoolers,” said Kevin Folan, Head of Hilltop Country Day School. “Currently, families need to choose between a great education and the pursuit of competitive skiing. This partnership will allow students to do both, concurrently. Hilltop has a 50-year history of creating unique programming to help students pursue their highest potential, both inside and outside the classroom.”

Enrollment is now open, with two entry points for student athletes. Students have the option to either enroll for year-round education at Hilltop Country Day School for the full school year or the winter trimester only, continuing their education at their current school during the spring and fall. To enroll, interested participants can contact skiacademy@hilltopcds.org or call 973-729-5485.

“Mountain Creek is committed to the community of ski racing, and this is one of several initiatives we have planned to act on that commitment,” said Hugh Reynolds, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Mountain Creek Resort. “We look forward to paving the way for local athletes to compete in snow sports on the national and international level. At the end of the day, this program is education-first, so it was important to us to find a partner like Hilltop Country Day School that is aligned with our vision.”
