The Ogdensburg Council unanimously introduced, June 11, an ordinance updating Ogdensburg Borough employee salary ranges.
Public hearing will be June 25; Council President Peter Opilla and Councilman Anthony Nasisi were absent.
The council also unanimously approved assigning and transferring the borough's garbage contract from Global Waste to Blue Diamond, pending bonding and insurance forms. As a result, the new recycling schedule will change to every other Thursday, starting on June 28.
Councilman David Astor explained, since the verbal agreement, a Blue Diamond employee had been riding along with Global, so there will be a seamless transition.
Officials also agreed to introduce an ordinance for non-profit organization raffle fees at the next meeting. Instead of being required to charge higher N.J. state raffle fees due to lack of a local ordinance - $20 fee on every $1K raffled — they will change the fee to around $20-$30 per raffle.
Mayor Rachel Slater gave the council audit packets of the budget, and officials discussed the need to use about $5,000 currently available for use in the Green Community Grant line item.
Slater said Heater's Pond Dam is completed, and she is still waiting for information regarding improving its appearance; the Code Book Codification company needs more information, and the book should be completed before the end of June; plus the guard shack is 90 percent completed and should be completed soon.
Councilman Michael Nardini said the water personnel ad is being reviewed before posting; and they added additional language to delinquent water bills, including billing payment options.
Officials discussed adding dusk-to-dawn lights to the back of the firehouse parking lot around the garbage area and for safety. The borough engineer already discussed possibilities with DPW Supervisor Chris Ross.
Councilman David Astor said, borough insurance representative George Morville will notify the council of required “No Trespassing” signs for ordering and posting at Heater's Pond.
