The Wallkill Valley Regional High School chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) recently recognized the efforts of the community’s law enforcement officers.
This community service outreach was initiated by FBLA member Sara Miceli; she was assisted by member Kayla Bifano. The Hamburg, Hardyston, Ogdensburg, and Franklin councils were notified of this project. Once the FBLA members received the support of the individual townships, contact was made with the offices of the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department and New Jersey State Police to apprise them of the scope of the project. Middle school children were encouraged to write thank-you notes to law enforcement officers.
Wallkill Valley FBLA members designated April 11, as Support Our Local Law Enforcement Day. Lunches for 100 officers in the four local law enforcement agencies, the Sussex County Sheriff’s Department, and the New Jersey State Police were delivered by Wallkill Valley FBLA members Sara Miceli, Kayla Bifano, Tyler Small, Drew Langenfeld, Ryan Kostelnik, Harshil Bhavsar, Hannah Sekelsky, Tim Hendershot, Autumn Card, Lauren Corrado, Casey Johansson, and Madison Yodice. Each law enforcement department received sub sandwiches, condiments, potato salad, cupcakes, and water; the food was provided by Weis Supermarket, located in Franklin. Weis Supermarket donated the water and allowed a discount on the food.
Each law enforcement agency also received thank-you notes from Hamburg Middle School and Franklin Middle School students. Sara created a key ring holder for each department. Wallkill Valley FBLA’s message: Thank you, Blue!
