Jefferson summer camp registration is open

OAK RIDGE — A veteran youth camp counselor once said, “School prepares you for college. Camp prepares you for life.”
The Jefferson Township Recreation Department is excited to announce that its 15th season of summer day camp at Camp Jefferson will run for 8 weeks from June 25 through Aug. 17, in a safe and natural environment at the township’s 94-acre facility at 81 Weldon Road in Lake Hopatcong.
Online registration is on-going at this time with a policy of registration and payment due Two Tuesdays Before the week you want your child to attend with payment in full due upon registration if paying by credit card or within 3 business days if paying by cash or check. Therefore, if you want your child to attend camp the first week of June 25 to June 28, online registration, the submission of required documents (Health History form, a photo of camper, immunization records, and a copy of the front and back of the health insurance card. If the child is 3, 4, or 5 years old, a copy of the birth certificate is required. Full payment must be completed by Tuesday, June 12 for Week 1. And each subsequent week, also has its Two Tuesdays Before deadline to register.
Camp Jefferson’s facilities include a spring-fed lake for boating and fishing, open grass fields, an amphitheater, fire pit with seating, numerous themed cabins, a main community lodge with full kitchen, a recreation hall with table games, basketball courts, a picnic pavilion, high and low ropes courses, an archery range, a 40’ rock climbing wall with a vertical playpen and a 250’ zip line, two GaGa Pits, and a state-of-the-art playground.
Camp Jefferson offers a five-day week or a three-day week (both 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.) – you choose the days. A discount is offered for campers who are Jefferson Township residents; and on 5-day weeks, each additional sibling registered within the same five-day program week gets a $10 discount!
The pre-school program is open to all children 3 years old as of June 25 and completely potty trained, an elementary school aged program for those children entering Kindergarten through 5th grade in September 2018, a ‘Tween program for children entering 5th and 6th grades in September 2018, and a Teen program for children entering 7th and 8th grades in September 2018.
Camp Jefferson’s program is a la carte – you pick and choose your week(s) of camp, any and all options or choose no options and let your child just enjoy an exciting regular fun-filled camp day. Before and/or after camp care, electives, special trips, and morning only bus transportation are available for an additional charge as well as lunch options four times a week at very reasonable prices.
