Kathi C. Mannion (nee Hart), 65 years old, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at Sloan Kettering Hospital, New York City, N.Y., after a long illness. Born to Daniel and Kathi Merkenich Hart in New York City, N.Y., she lived in the Bronx and Yonkers before moving to Ogdensburg, NJ in 1981.
Kathi attended Bedford Park Academy and Hunter College — Bellevue School of Nursing in New York. She completed her nursing degree at Sussex County Community College. She worked at St. Clares Hospital in Denville and as a Private Duty Nurse specializing in children with AIDS. Kathi was the owner and operator of Mannion’s Liquor Store in Ogdensburg, N.J., for the last 18 years. She was a former EMT with Wallkill Valley First Aid Squad, a former Girl Scout Leader and softball coach. She took great joy in Florida vacations and the home bonfires.
Kathi is the beloved wife of her high school sweetheart, Thomas Spencer Mannion celebrated 42 years of marriage this year. She was the devoted mother of Kristie Guest and her husband, Walter, Jr. of Hampton, N.J.; Danielle Mannion and her life partner, Kelly Higgins of Cape Coral, Fla.,; Tammie Mannion and significant other, Patrick Morris of Ogdensburg, NJ; and Shana Babcock and her husband, Doug of Wantage Twp., NJ; She is predeceased by 2 grandchildren, Jesse and Zoey and is the loving grandmother of Curtis, Joshua, Skyler, Gavin, Angelina, Thomas, Izabella, Khloe, Lucas and Shaila; Great grandmother of Lillian and Calianna; Dear sister of Daniel Hart of Wanaque, NJ; Margaret Chiffriller of Isla Mujeres, Mexico; William Hart of Pinebush, NY; Maryrose Hart-Gummerson of Mohegan, NY; and Patricia McEnery of Eastchester, N.Y.; Cherished by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
The family will receive their friends to remember a life well lived at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, NJ on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, from 2-6 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at 9 a.m.. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas of Aquin RC Church, Ogdensburg, NJ at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, Ogdensburg, NJ.
