Robert Duane Kitchell, 69, passed away on Saturday April1, 2017. Robert was born on January 11, 1948, in Franklin, N.J., to the late Harvey K. and Florence V. (nee Clark) Kitchell.
Robert was a graduate of Hardyston Elementary School and the Franklin High School and received a degree at the East Coast Aerotech College. He served in the United States Army and was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. Robert was a mechanic for the D.W. Clark School Bus Company and was an Equipment Operator for the New Jersey Department of Transportation for 25 years retiring in 2002, he received the Employee of the year in 1993. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, he enjoyed hunting, shooting and riding his motorcycles. He was a member of the pit crews at dirt track racing as well as the NASCAR races he attended. Robert was the “go to” person for help as he could fix anything and make it work again.
Robert was predeceased by his parents and his stepson Barry Manion.
Robert was the beloved husband of Darcy (Saffrin) Kitchell, step dad of Bill J. Manion and his wife Anna M. and step granddaughter Allyson M. and his Aunt Louise Clark and his many cousins.
Relatives and friends will be received on Wednesday April 5, from 3-8 p.m. at F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, N.J., and may attend funeral service at the funeral home on Thursday April 6, at 11 a.m. interment at North Hardyston Cemetery.
