Troop 90 visits Ellis Island

Franklin Troop 90 took a contingent of scouts on a day trip to visit Ellis Island and Liberty Island.
The troop traveled to Liberty State Park and took the ferry to the two islands. They explored Ellis Island and learned about the immigration history. While at the museum, the troop watched a movie on the history of the building and the difficulties and challenges people took on when coming to America.
The boys learned about the process of entering our country and where they went after they entered. While they were at Ellis Island, everyone had a bag lunch in the cafeteria.
Afterwards, Troop 90 boarded the Ferry for Liberty Island and toured the exhibits. Some of the boys went into the Statue pedestal and went up into the base of the Statue. Afterwards, we returned to the ferry and started our return trip to Liberty State Park. Before leaving the park we visited the 911 memorial called Empty Sky.
