Nickolas W. Gardner, age 71, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017, at his residence while surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Newton to the late William Francis Ruane and Bertha Mae (Norman) Ruane, Mr. Gardner lived in Hardyston for the past 40 years. After his retirement as a foreman from Nelson Tree Service, Mr. Gardner worked for Tony’s Pizza & Pasta Restaurant in Hardyston for the past ten years. He was a member of the Sparta Elks and a lifetime member of the NRA. Mr. Gardner was a machinist and enjoyed creating items for other people as a hobby. He was predeceased by his former wife, Dixie L. Gardner in 2016. He is survived by his grandson, Randy Mackerley of South Fallsburg, New York; his great grandchildren, Emily and Randy, Jr.; his brother, Francis “Frank” Ruane of Hamburg; and his two sisters, Loralie Blevins and Patricia Lanus both of Arizona. A celebration of life in remembrance of Nickolas Gardner will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Tony’s Pizza & Pasta Restaurant, 3339 State Route 94, Hamburg, NJ 07419.
