John C. Pfeifer, 53, died peacefully in loving arms of his family and friends on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, 7:20 p.m., at home.
Born in New York, N.Y., on Jan. 9, 1964, he resided in Richmond Hills, N.Y., until January 1972, then moved to Lake Tamarack in Stockholm, where he lived until his passing.
He is survived by his parents, Jack and Barbara Pfeifer; and daughter, Katie Pfeifer. He is also survived by his niece, Saphira; uncle, Lou; aunt, Ginny and cousin, Louis. He leaves behind his family of loving friends, those whom he worked with closely, neighbors and childhood schoolmates of his beloved Lake Tamarack. He extended his friendship and kindness when needed.
John graduated from Sussex County Vo-Tech, specializing in welding. He worked hard and dabbled in landscaping, cable wiring, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, farming and car repair. He loved helping friends.
The outdoors, the woods, the mountains were his domain. The love of snow, the feel of cold and the heat of summer kept him in the New Jersey mountains. Swimming, skiing, biking, fishing were all part of growing up and stayed with him always. He was a loner at times and, eventually, held onto his daily routines as his illness began to take its toll. He traveled far within his own domain, alongside his friends and family.
It's the memories that keep us close at heart; his friends and family have shared them with us.
On Saturday, March 4, at 11 a.m., a memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 75 Church St., Franklin. Immediately following the Mass, a Celebration of Life will take place at Black Bear Golf Club, Route 23 North, Franklin.
In his name, donations can be made to Karen Ann Quinlan Memorial Foundation, 99 Sparta Ave., Newton, NJ 07860.
