Troop 90 visits Somers Summer Camp

Franklin Troop 90 took a contingent of scouts to Camp Somers Summer Camp in Allamuchy State Park for a week of summer camp. The boys arrived at camp on Sunday and checked in. They then took their swim test for waterfront and received a tour of the camp.
During the course of the week, some of the boys worked on merit badges and others participated in the Dan Beard program which helps them achieve summer of the early ranks in scouting.
On Sunday night, all of the boys attending opening ceremony and campfire. During the week, the boys would go to flag ceremonies before breakfast and dinner in Full Class A uniforms. They would then go to the dining hall for all three meals, which provided options for healthy and nutritious meals. On Friday night, they attended closing ceremony with campfire and awards presentations.
On Thursday evening, the boys participated in canoe wars in which they boys go onto the lake with buckets and dump water into the other canoes in an effort to sink the other canoes. The last remaining canoe is crowned the winner. However, this year the contest went on so long the Camp declared a tie which included one of Troop 90’s canoe teams.
