Dorothy Frances Willison (nee Dvorak) died peacefully at home Monday, October 31, 2016, on her 97th birthday. Born to Frank and Mary Dvorak in Queens, NY, she had lived in Hamburg, NJ for many years.
Dorothy received her BS in Biology from Hunter College. She worked in the NYC Medical School, Department of Medical Anatomy, as a laboratory technician. After marrying the love of her life, Harry Willison, and raising two children, she returned to work as a social worker for the NYC Human Resource Administration. She retired in 1982 as the director of a satellite social service office, and moved to Hamburg. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Hamburg, N.J., and the Hardyston Twp. Senior Citizens, was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed needlepoint reading, crosswords, Sudoku and her grand-dogs.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Harry Willison (2000), and her son-in-law, Joseph Orosz (2008). She was the devoted mother of Sharon Orosz of Rockaway, N.J., and Kenneth Willison and his wife, Lorie, of Hamburg, N.J. Loving grandmother of David, Catherine and Daniel. Great grandmother of McKenzie, Dustin and Leah.
Memorial service will be Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3220 State Highway Route 94, Hamburg, NJ. Private cremation services by F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, One Main Street, Franklin, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Hamburg, NJ or Father John’s Animal House, Lafayette, NJ.
