Franklin Troop 90 took a contingent of scouts to the West Point Scoutmaster’s camporee where they Scouts participated in a series of military themed activities where they worked together as a patrol to learn new skills and have a good time at the same time.
Friday night, the troop arrived and unloaded all of our gear at the check in field. The boys then had to transport all of their gear to our assigned camp site, where we commenced in setting up our campsite. Saturday morning, our troop was greeted at 6:15 a.m. by our Troop Cadet where the boys went with them on PT before attending the Opening Ceremony. The Ceremony Included a military maneuver demonstration and concluded with Army Rangers parachuting into the main field. The final Ranger carrying the American Flag to raise on the pole. During the day, the boys participated in various activities that included Fire Building, Army Drill, Ranger Challenge, Camouflage, and the TAC Challenge. For all of the meals they cooked in site and the day concluded with a Bon Fire that evening with a D.J.
They cleaned up the next morning and loaded our trailer before departing for Franklin. Again, carrying all of their gear from their site to load it in the trailer. Before leaving, the troop participated in the Closing Ceremony and Commander Awards presentations.
