Jefferson Township Day forum planned

The Jefferson Arts Committee is hosting an open forum on Tuesday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Department for Disabilities’ Wiegand Farms Activity Center on Catholic Charities Way to discuss how local organizations and groups can get involved in the 30th anniversary celebration of Jefferson Township Day this year on Saturday, July 9, and to also discuss the future of this event.
The JAC is looking for organizations/groups to sponsor activities that would involve children or all age groups on Jefferson Township Day on the field during the day. The Arts Committee has many ideas, just not enough volunteers and members to execute them. They have compiled a list of some they would like to see incorporated into the day’s activities; but to date, there are no sponsors or volunteers able to implement/run them. Some of the suggestions can even be made with inexpensive everyday items at little cost, and by participating, an organization/group can gain public recognition. If the activity is approved by the JAC and warrants a small player fee, that organization/group can even raise some funds while having a great time.
Questions or comments can be directed to either Jefferson Township Day Chairman/Vice President Special Events John Focacci at 973-697-2032 or Jefferson Arts Committee President Carol PunturierI at 973-697-3828. Or email them through artscommittee@jeffersonarts.org Be sure to follow the Jefferson Arts Committee on Facebook and their website at www.jeffersonarts.org.
There will be live entertainment, demonstrations, food vendors, and arts/crafts/merchandise vendors throughout the day on July 9th; and in the evening, the Jefferson Township Community Concert and Jazz Bands under the direction of Peter Tummillo, Jr. take the stage for an evening concert to be followed by a fantastic aerial fireworks display.
