CASA looking for volunteer advocates for children

| 06 Apr 2016 | 12:36

The mission of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Morris and Sussex Counties, Inc., is to speak up for the best interest of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, and abandonment.
CASA volunteers are highly dedicated individuals who provide children with a voice in court and are the eyes and ears of the Family Court judge, serving as neutral parties on each case. CASA volunteers are appointed to represent the child’s best interests.
CASA volunteers come from all walks of life, with a variety of professional, educational, and ethnic backgrounds. As CASA volunteer Mary Eldridge said, “Every child deserves to be known, heard, and valued. As a CASA volunteer, I am a positive presence that is committed to a child’s current and future wellbeing.”
Last year, the organization’s CASA volunteers served more than 370 children. CASA is looking for people who want to be a voice for children in the foster-scare system. Volunteers will be thoroughly trained and well-supported by professional staff to help them through each case.
