The Hardyston Township Council approved a letter expressing the township's opposition to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's proposed Sparta Mountain Wildlife Management Area Forest Stewardship plan.
Business Manager Marianne Smith gave a copy of the draft letter to the council. The letter contains the entire Council’s comments and oppositions in response to the citing’s from the Forester’s Report that is available to the public.
“We have some pretty good objections from the public that we heard at the Hardyston Council meeting,” Councilman Carl Miller said.
"The DEP is for the DEP and against the people," Councilman Santo Verrilli said. " I thought it was for the people, by the people."
Smith also said there will be a public hearing on April 27 to pass the budget.
Verrilli requested a moment of silence for the victims and families that were affected by the terrorist bombings in Brussels on March 22.
