Almost three years ago, Dr. Michael Ramieri’s vision of having a well-equipped, modern, state-of-the-art general practice and emergency veterinary hospital came to fruition.

Ramieri has been practicing in Sussex County for more that 12 years. After starting his career at Nutley Animal Hospital, the doctor of veterinary medicine came to Sussex county and partnered with Dr. Robert Potter, becoming half owner of Vernon Veterinary Clinic in Vernon. He was partner at Vernon Vet for eight years when he decided to leave and open a modern, well-equipped veterinary hospital in Franklin with the ultimate goal of providing affordable 24-hour veterinary care.

Since then, Advanced Veterinary Care has been accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association and adheres to the practice of high level veterinary medical and surgical service at a reasonable cost to owners. Dr. Ramieri strongly believes in preventative medicine and has a special interest in orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, ultrasound and echocardiography. He feels that all of the animals, from dogs, to cats, to birds, to snakes, to other exotics, that come through the doors at Advanced Veterinary Care should always be treated like family.

Advanced Veterinary Care offers the highest level of patient care including advanced patient monitoring, digital radiographs, ultrasound, echocardiography, cryosurgery, laser therapy, laser surgery, dentistry, dental radiography and a fully-equipped in-house laboratory and pharmacy.

The hospital provides a 24 hour emergency service combining both on-call doctors and doctors on premise. It is staffed 24 hours a day, which affords the ability to not only see emergencies but to keep a close eye on critical patients and more complex cases. Doctors see regular well and sick patients by appointment between 8am and 8pm Monday through Friday and 8am to 6pm Saturdays and Sundays. After hours there is an emergency fee in addition to a regular exam fee.

“We have endeavored to provide around the clock care and monitoring for our hospitalized patients. I have made it a priority to have 24 hour staffing so that we are able to see the more difficult cases through without having to always refer, therefore providing a more affordable solution for many cases.,” says Dr. Ramieri.

With a rapidly growing client and patient base, Advanced Veterinary Care has become a thriving business in a relatively short period of time.

“We are thrilled with the amount of people who come in and say that they were referred by someone who has been here before. Word of mouth referrals are welcome and we can’t thank our loyal clients enough for spreading the word. We strive, every day, to treat our clients’ pets as our own and I hope it shows in the care our client’s pets receive. We also work closely with other veterinary hospitals in the area and refer more specialized cases to different referral hospitals in Northern New Jersey. Additionally, if a patient comes in on emergency and regularly uses another veterinary clinic, we are happy to communicate with their veterinarian,” says Dr. Ramieri.

With all of these special services, a great team of doctors and staff, 24 hour service and excellent location right on Route 23, Dr. Ramieri is hopeful for the future.

“All of our staff are experienced, caring people who truly love animals and go above and beyond when it comes to patient care and monitoring as well as compassionate interaction with pet owners. I think people sense that when they bring their pets here and it makes a big difference. You can have advanced services and great doctors but having a supportive, caring staff is something money can’t buy. I truly believe that we have one of the best veterinary teams in the area.”

Advanced Veterinary Care is also a family-run business with Dr. Ramieri’s wife Terri working as the hospital manager as well as taking care of their three children, Gianna (8), Lila (5) and Joseph (3). They also have two dogs (Jasmine and Simon) which were recently adopted by the Ramieris from Sussex County’s own O.S.C.A.R. Rescue Group.

The hospital has five talented doctors on staff including owner Michael Ramieri, DVM, Brian Civatte BVM&S & MRCVS, Travis Cerf DVM, Kate Ziegler DVM and Livia Boote DVM, creating a staff of competent, compassionate individuals.

Advanced Veterinary care is accepting new clients/patients.
