There is something new to do through the Sussex County Library System (SCLS) every single day this October.

Children ages 6 months through 6 years are invited to Read & Play programs at Main Library and the Louise Childs, Franklin and Dennis branches. The Dorothy Henry and Sussex-Wantage branches are holding more age-specific programs with Lapsits for children ages 6 months through 2 years and Preschool Story Times for ages 3-6. All branches also will host Star Wars Reads Day parties with games, activities, raffles and more for kids of all ages.

LEGO Clubs now meet at four locations. Kids in Kindergarten and older can play with the SCLS extensive collection, working alone or with new friends to build amazing LEGO creations. Minecraft Club is starting up again with meetings at the Louise Childs Branch on Oct. 1 and 15 at 3:30 p.m.

Registered dietitian Kara Bekendorf will stop by the Franklin Branch on Friday, Oct. 23, at 4 p.m. to teach kids how to make healthier snack choices. Bring your appetites and be ready to sample some delicious, nutritious snacks.

Teen Read Week will be Oct. 18-24. Teens ages 13 and up are invited to celebrate the sweetness that is reading a really good book by making candy sushi at the Main Library on Oct. 19 at 7 p.m., or the Dorothy Henry and Sussex-Wantage branches, Oct. 21 and 22 respectively at 6:30 p.m.

There will be new events for adults in October as well. Sussex-Wantage Branch introduces adult coloring Therapy, the latest craze in stress reduction, every Thursday morning at 10 a.m. On Saturday, Oct. 17, at 10:30 a.m. the Louise Childs Branch presents Jack the Ripper: A Mystery of Mysteries, a look at one of the most notorious serial murderers of all time, hosted by clinical psychologist Dr. Mark Vogel. Main Library hosts Beginners Yoga and the Sussex Library Needlers every Wednesday; and book clubs continue to meet at Main Library and the Dorothy Henry and Louise Childs branches every month.

There are more than 80 programs listed on the calendar for October. For specific times, dates, details and registration please go to the programs link at www.sussexcountylibrary.org or stop by your local branch.
