The Sussex County YMCA will host its second annual Kids’ Mini Triathlon on Sunday, July 27, from 8 a.m. until noon.

The event will be held at the Y facility located at 15 Wits End Road in Hardyston.

The mini triathlon gives young athletes and aspiring young triathletes a chance to participate in a race which is full of fun and encouragement in a safe and kid-friendly environment. The mini triathlon is a condensed version of a regular triathlon and distances vary by age group. The triathlon offers young athletes a chance to compete in swimming, biking, and running. The event is open to children ages 4 to 17, and participants will be grouped by age, with age-specific distance requirements.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer this fun event that allows young athletes in our area to experience the fun of friendly competition, learn about sportsmanship, and demonstrate their skills,” said Jennifer Gardner, executive director of the Sussex County YMCA.

Registration is $25 per participant and entries must be turned in to the Welcome Center by July 21. Registration forms can be downloaded from the Sussex County YMCA website. Participants must bring their own bike and helmet.

For more information about the Kids’ Mini Triathlon or other Y programs, call the Welcome Center at 973-209-9622 or visit the website at www.sussexcountyymca.org.
