The cowboys - and cowgirls - at Wild West City are saddling up for the Western-themed amusement park’s season opening weekend, April 30-May 1.

Wild West City, a New Jersey tradition, has been entertaining audiences for over six decades with live action-packed shows, train and stagecoach rides, demonstrations, historical exhibits, music, special events and an opportunity for families to mingle with cowboys and cowgirls in “Dodge City.”

Located near Routes 206, 80 and 46, Wild West City will be open weekends starting April 30th through Father’s Day, and then daily through Labor Day, and weekends again until Oct. 31. In October, Wild West City becomes the Haunted Wild West town with both daytime and nighttime events.

Western TV shows and movies continue to be a favorite of many and Wild West City affords those fans a chance to see what the wild west was all about up close and personal. Wild West City can also be an educational experience for those who want to simply learn about the history of the west.

Wild West City has scheduled a host of special days in 2022, including the first-ever Day of the Cowgirl on Sunday June 26, which will feature Brave Beth with Cowboy Larry’s Wild West Show, Sue Kies trick roper, and Nola Haupert Keill’s cowgirl mounted shooting.

“We are very excited about our newest featured day,” said Katie Benson, whose family owns Wild West City. “The cowgirls are the unsung heroes of the west and we wanted to bring attention to them and how they helped form the west.”

Most people have heard of Annie Oakley, Belle Starr and Calamity Jane, but there are many others not so well known. Wild West City will bring all of them to the forefront on this special day.

The park will continue to feature many of its annually held theme days, such as featuring moms on Mother’s Day, dads on Father’s Day, and Scout weekends in the spring and fall.

On May 21, Wild West City salutes our Armed Forces.

The Medicine Man, Stephen Christopher, brings his magical show to Wild West City the weekend of July 9-10.

Three Civil War encampments are scheduled throughout the season, starting with one on the weekend of June 4-5. The National Day of the Cowboy is scheduled for July 23. Other special events are still in the planning stages.

Tickets for any Wild West City day can be purchased in advance online. Groups are also welcome. For more information about Wild West City visit wildwestcity.com.
