    Feb. 17 Martin Renard, 35, of Milford, Pa., entered a guilty plea to an indictment charging him with one count of a fourth degree charge for a Megan’s Law violation for failure to notify law enforcement that he was employed in the state of New Jersey. Under the provisions of Megan’s Law, Renard was required to notify the local police that he had obtained a job or changed jobs within five days after any change in employment status. Renard admitted to the court that between June 16 and Aug. 15, 2008 he had obtained a job in the Borough of Hamburg. The case was investigated by Sgt. Eric Aronson of the Hamburg Police Department. Renard is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday, April 17, 2009. Zachary A. Coppolino, 21, of Wantage pled guilty to three counts of third degree distribution of a controlled dangerous substance and one count of third degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Sentencing is anticipated for March 16. He admitted that on three occasions in March 2008 in Wantage he sold small amounts of cocaine to individual cooperating with the Sussex County Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force. He also admitted that on Nov. 11, 2008 in Wantage he possessed OxyContin when he was arrested on an outstanding warrant by Trooper C. Gesualdo. Feb. 18 David M. Bryan, 28, of Vernon, was sentenced to serve 270 days in county jail and was given credit for 31 days served. His registration and driving privileges were suspended for two years. He must pay total fines and penalties of $1,346 and submit a DNA sample at his expense. He pled guilty on Feb. 2 to aggravated assault by throwing bodily fluids, a fourth degree crime, and to motor vehicle violations of driving while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test. On Aug. 29, 2008 in Franklin, after responding to a call for someone continually calling and harassing a resident, police observed the defendant drive away from the residence, initiated a motor vehicle stop and arrest him for driving while intoxicated. While at the police station for processing he began spitting in the direction of several officers. Johnny A. Moscagiuri, 31, of Newton, was sentenced to five years state prison with 16 months of parole ineligibility and $155 in fines. He pled guilty on Feb. 3 to the third degree crime of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school. He admitted to being involved in the distribution of cocaine and heroin while within 1,000 feet of the St. Joseph’s School. The matter was investigated by the Sussex County Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Task Force and the Newton Police Department. Feb. 19 A juvenile pled guilty to third degree False Public Alarm. He was adjudicated a juvenile delinquent by the court. The juvenile, age 16, of Vernon, was sentenced to 18 months probation, 30 days in the Juvenile Detention Center (credit for eight days, balance suspended) and six month loss of his driver’s license. He must also complete the Treatment Dynamics Program, Alternative to Detention Program, submit a DNA sample, undergo random drug testing, attend school every day and follow all home and school rules, have no contact with his co-defendant, pay $850 in court fines and $2,000 in restitution n joint and several with his co-defendant. In November the juvenile and a co-defendant left a note in the boys’ bathroom at Vernon High School stating a bomb was going to go off at noon. He also had several other papers stating the school would “go boom at noon.” A juvenile pled guilty to three counts of third degree burglary, third degree auto theft, third degree possession of heroin and fourth degree unlawful possession of a weapon. He was adjudicated a juvenile delinquent by the court. The juvenile, age 17, of Stanhope, was sentenced to 240 days in the Juvenile Detention Center with credit for 70 days, 30 days suspended if remaining on A Level and a two-year loss of his driver’s license. He will remain on probation until his 19th birthday. Other conditions of probation are he must submit a DNA sample, pay $2,000 in court fines and $3628.69 in restitution to his victims. In November of 2008 the juvenile broke into various vehicles taking several items along with taking one of the vehicles. He was also found to be in possession of heroin and a knife. A juvenile pled guilty to third degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes and simple assault. She was adjudicated a juvenile delinquent by the court. The juvenile, age 13, of Franklin, was sentenced to 18 months probation and 32 days already served in the Juvenile Detention Center. She must also attend school every day and follow all home and school rules, submit a DNA sample, undergo random drug testing and comply with all CMO services. In December of 2008, the juvenile had a knife in her possession which she threatened others with. A juvenile pled guilty to fourth degree aggravated assault and simple assault. He was adjudicated a juvenile delinquent by the court. The juvenile, age 16, of Stanhope, was sentenced to 12 months probation with seven days in the Juvenile Detention Center. He must also complete 30 hours of community service, attend school every day and follow all home and school rules, submit a DNA sample, undergo random drug testing, have no contact with the victim, write letter of apology to victim and pay $75 in court fines. In December of 2008 he punched a school official in the shoulder and pushed a classmate against a locker, tearing her necklace off. Feb. 20 Robert F. Keenan, 30, of Newark, Del., was sentenced to three years probation, which will be transferred to the state of Delaware for supervision, was ordered to serve 60 days county jail and was given credit for 52 days served. He must pay restitution in the amount of $2,600, pay total fines and penalties of $705 and submit a DNA sample at his expense. His driving privileges were suspended for 12 months. He pled guilty on Jan. 12, 2009 to unlawful taking of a means of conveyance, a third-degree crime. On May 1, 2004 in Vernon, he took a vehicle belonging to another person without the owner’s consent or authorization. He failed to appear for an Early Disposition Conference on July 12, 2004, a bench warrant was issued for that failure to appear and the matter was then presented to the Grand Jury. Antonio Laboy, 26, of Montague, was sentenced to two years probation and was given credit for eight days time served. He must submit to a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations made, pay total fines and penalties of $155 and submit a DNA sample at his expense. He pled guilty on Dec. 17, 2008 to burglary, a third degree crime. On July 31, 2008 in Montague, Laboy and a co-defendant took a vehicle belonging to a former employer of Laboy’s without the owner’s consent or authorization. A serious motor vehicle accident involving the vehicle initiated an investigation into the matter. Walter J. Fraas, 49 of Vernon Township, was sentenced to 18 months probation. As a condition of his probation Fraas was ordered to serve 75 hours of community service. He was also ordered to pay $205 in monetary penalties and to comply with the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation. He pled guilty on Oct. 29, 2008, to possession of a switchblade knife. Fraas admitted to the court that on or about Jan. 30, 2008, he was in possession of a switchblade knife during a domestic violence dispute. Robert Fedder, 21 of Hamburg, was sentenced to four years State Prison with 406 days credit. Defendant must receive mental health and substance abuse counseling, register under Megan’s Law, be subject to parole supervision for life and submit a DNA sample. Fines and costs are in the amount of $3,580. On June 6, 2007 the defendant had sexual contact with the intimate parts of a minor female to humiliate and degrade her. Between April 14, 2006 to April 25, 2006 defendant failed to register with the Vernon Township Police Department that he moved to a new address in the Township of Vernon. On Nov. 9, 2007 the defendant knowingly gave false information to a law enforcement officer with the purpose to falsely implicate another person in the commission of an offense. Justin P. Raia, 26 of Montville, was sentenced to three years probation and 100 hours of community service. He must attend Alcohol Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings, submit his DNA and pay a total of $1,454.93 in restitution to his victim. Raia pled guilty to fourth degree theft. He admitted to using a stolen credit card to make several purchases at area stores. This incident was investigated by Detective Terrence Mulligan of the Sparta Police Department. Feb. 23 Stephen Blaine, 23, of Shawnee, Pa., pled guilty to third degree burglary and third degree theft. Sentencing is anticipated for April 3. He admitted to entering the home of a Wantage resident and taking coins and currency, clothing, video games and a bronze medallion. Amber Decker, 19, of Montague, was sentenced to three years drug court probation, long-term inpatient substance abuse treatment, 51 days jail, $1,205 in fines and a six month loss of license. She pled guilty on Feb. 2 to the third degree crime of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. She admitted possessing heroin on Nov. 24, 2008 in Hardyston. Roosevelt L. Wright, 53, of East Orange pled guilty to the third degree crime of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Sentencing is anticipated for April 3, 2009. He admitted to possessing a bag of heroin that he was trying to hide during the course of a motor vehicle stop by Sparta Police Officer R. Smith on April 22, 2008. Lacie Broyer, 27, of Byram pled guilty to the third degree crime of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Sentencing is anticipated for March 23. She admitted to possessing a half of bag of heroin when the police responded to her home regarding her overdose. Feb. 24 Daniel R. Mayer, 24, of Newton, has been indicted with one count of possession of heroin, a third degree crime; three counts of burglary, third degree crimes; and four counts theft, third and fourth degree crimes. An additional indictment charges Daniel R. Mayer and Vincent Norman, 38, of North Bergen, with one count attempted escape, a third degree crime; one count conspiracy to commit attempted escape, a third degree crime; one count of criminal mischief, a third degree crime; one count witness tampering, a second degree crime; and one count of hindering apprehension or prosecution, a fourth degree crime. Feb. 25 Jacob R. Gentry, 27, Emily M. Henry, 24, and Jarrod C. Gentry, 20, all of whom had been living in Port Jervis, N.Y., at the time of their arrests in August 2008, are named in three indictments. The indictments charge each defendant with murder, a crime of the first degree; endangering an injured victim, a crime of the third degree; aggravated assault, a crime of the third degree; and possession of weapons for an unlawful purpose, also a crime of the third degree. It is alleged that on Aug. 17, 2008 the three defendants purposely and knowingly caused the death of David Haulmark at the Legends Resort in Vernon Township. Haulmark died of multiple blunt force trauma to the head, neck and face. The defendants are currently lodged in the Keogh Dwyer Correctional Facility in lieu of the bails established by the Superior Court. The case was investigated by Vernon Township Police Department, Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office, Sussex County Medical Examiner’s Office and New Jersey State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit. Paul Helmrich, 40, of Vernon, was sentenced to six years state prison, $3,205 in fines and a six month loss of driver’s license. He pled guilty on Oct. 22, 2008 to the first degree crime of possession with the intent to distribute 25 pounds or more of marijuana. He admitted to possessing the marijuana on behalf of another individual who intended to distribute it. The matter was investigated by the Sussex County Narcotics Task Force and the Vernon Police Department, who on July 11, 2005 seized 104 pounds of marijuana from a self-storage center in Vernon. Feb. 27 Kyle Corbran, 20, of Norwood, was sentenced to four years probation on condition that he complete Renovation House inpatient treatment program. He must then serve 60 days in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility or complete 60 days SLAP. As other conditions of probation he must also undergo random drug testing, submit a DNA sample pay $155 in court fines and $1,636 (joint and several) in restitution. He pled guilty on December 8, 2008, to third degree theft. In May 2008, in Vernon, Corbran and several other co-defendants took a subwoofer box, pioneer subs, amplifier and approximately 200 CDs from the victim’s vehicle and then sold the items. Cory R. Baum, 21, of Hamburg had his sentence suspended for five years. During that period the defendant must engage in sex offender specific therapy, have a psychiatric evaluation and follow all recommendations, have an updated TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations, serve 48 days in jail (credit), have no contact with the victim or the victim’s family and no unsupervised contact with any minors under the age of 16. Defendant must also register under Megan’s Law and is subject to Parole Supervision for Life. Defendant must pay fines and costs in the amount of $3,330 and submit a DNA sample. On or between Jan. 20 and March 25, 2008 the defendant had sexual contact with the intimate parts of a minor female.
