Open House Weekend

| 22 Feb 2012 | 12:26

The Sussex County Association of Realtors will usher in the spring buying season by joining other Realtors across the country for Open House Weekend on Saturday, April 10 and Sunday, April 11. Association members will conduct open houses at an estimated 145 homes in the county to reach prospective buyers looking to capitalize on the federal home buyer tax credit. The weekend comes just before the April 30 deadline for the tax credit. First time and repeat buyers must have a written, binding contract in place by April 30 and close by June 30 to be eligible for the credits. First-time buyers, or those who have not owned a home in the past three years, may qualify for up to $8,000. Repeat buyers who have owned a home for five of the past eight years may take advantage of up to $6,500 ($3,200 for those who are filing separately) in tax credits. Specific information on the tax credits, income limits, other restrictions and the open house event can be found at www.REALstoryNJ.com.
