NJ State Fair wins awards
Augusta The New Jersey State Fair walked away with four prizes at the International Association for Fairs and Expositions’ (IAFE) annual convention in Las Vegas. Awards of Excellence plaques were awarded to the fair in the following categories: Non-fair agricultural event or program: Arthur & Friends a hydroponic agribusiness for disabled adults operating from the fairgrounds greenhouse Agriculture Photo Series: Arthur & Friends at the Fair a series of photos showing the growing of salad greens in the greenhouse by Arthur & Friends participants Program Designed to Correct an Issue or Problem Related to a Competitive or Non-competitive Agricultural Program educating the public about rare heritage breeds The final award was the Best of Division Award, a silver bowl. It was given to the New Jersey State Fair for the Best of Division 2 attendance of 100,000 - 250,000. The plaques and bowl are on display in the Administration Building on the Sussex County Fairgrounds alongside other IAFE awards dating back to 1995. The Agricultural Awards given by IAFE are in their 18th year and were sponsored by John Deere, a supporter of fairs around the world. The announcement of the awards was made by Mark Musilli, manager of the Sussex County Fairgrounds, to the membership of the Sussex County Farm & Horse Show Association.
