SUSSEX — The Preschool class at “L’ilKEEPers” recently spent a morning learning about germs and the importance of hand washing. Michele Roth from the Sussex County Office of Public Health Nursing gave a presentation on hand washing and preventing the spread of germs. The children were taught how germs spread by spraying their hands with water and then touching multiple toys and their friends. They were also given the opportunity to view germs that were present on their hands. Students then rubbed a special cream on their hands and placed their hands into the “glitter germ box,” which contains a light that allowed the kids to see all of the germs that were still present on their hands, The class was also taught the five proper steps for hand washing and sang a “wash your hands” song.
