Former Vernon resident urges vote for Storey for Sheriff

I am writing on behalf of Dan Storey, who is campaigning for the office of Sussex County Sheriff. I have known Dan all my life. In high school, Dan seemed to always find a moment to stop by my house just to say “hello,” throw a ball around the yard or teach my brother and me songs as he played his guitar. Dan always found time to help others, which is why I was not surprised to learn that he was going into law enforcement. In 1986, only one year after graduating Vernon Township High School, Dan started working for the Vernon Police Department, as a member of their Special Police. After serving for four years, Dan became a corrections officer for the Sussex County’s Sheriff’s Department. After only one year, Dan was brought on as a full time Sheriff’s officer, where he remained for the next 20 years. During that time, Dan was simply not fulfilled by just being an everyday Sheriff’s officer. His strong morals and beliefs led him to become involved with the DARE program, which teaches kids about the dangers of drugs. He also became involved with the GREAT program, which teaches the dangers of being involved with gangs. Dan was able to develop a special connection with the kids, as he was well aware of the pressures unique to growing up in Sussex County. Dan feels that education is an integral part of helping kids grow up to be responsible and productive. He plans to make that a focal point of his platform during his campaign. The fact that Dan lived and worked in Sussex County, at the very office he is campaigning to lead, is an important reason he is the best candidate. His relationships there will enable him to make an immediate impact and carry over to working with the community. Dan has an exceptional record and a commitment to serving Sussex County. I encourage all to vote for Dan Storey in the upcoming election. Robert Alfieri Currently of, Lakeland, Fla., A former 20-year resident of Lake Panorama, Vernon
