Margaret A. (“Peggy”) Walsh, 93, of Newton, N.J., died Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, at Newton Medical Center. He was 93.

Peggy was born and raised in Weehawken, N.J., graduating in 1944 from Weehawken High School. Peggy swiftly started working at the age of 17 for General Motors in New York City.

Peggy married her husband just five years later, had three children, and lived in Weehawken until 1961, then resided in Sussex County. She worked for Newton Trust Company for 17 years and retired in 1982 as vice president.

She was widely known for her strength, stubbornness, perfect hair, white Lincoln, and being an avid Lottery enthusiast. Peggy enjoyed her Scotch, the Kentucky Derby, walking the boardwalk at Lake Mohawk and spending time with her grandchildren.

Peggy was predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret (Mullen) Ahern; husband, Thomas, in 1990; as well as five sisters and one brother.

She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Snyder and husband, Kenneth, of Swartswood, N.J., and Maureen Rowe and husband, Clayton, of Hampton Township, N.J.; her son, Thomas Walsh Jr., and wife, Debora, of Andover Township, N.J.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Feb. 10 at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, Newton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 11, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 24 Halsted St, Newton, interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, 85 Pleasant Hill Road, Chester, N.J.
