Keeping faith

Dedicating a pear tree in memory of Julia Schlesinger, this group gathered last Wednesday at Maple Grange Park. From left, Pat Seger, Vernon’s director of community affairs; Ron Muller from Aspen Company, who donated the Chanticleer pear tree; Bill Benneyan, Earthfest committee and director of marketing at Mountain Creek; Dan Segal, former Earthfest chair, Joel, Claire and Billy Schlesinger, the family of Julia in whose honor the tree was planted; Councilwoman Valerie Suefert, co-chair of Earthfest. The plaque to be posted near the tree will read: In memory of Julia Schlesinger for involvement in Vernon Township Earthfest dedicated by the Vernon Chamber of Charities.
