Vernon presents ‘The Sound of Music'

    Vernon — On April 22, the curtain will rise on Vernon Township High School’s production of “The Sound of Music.” The final collaboration between Rodgers and Hammerstein, this show was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. It’s the story of how the Von Trapp family escaped over the mountains to Switzerland on the eve of World War II provides one of the most thrilling and inspirational finales ever presented in the theatre. The musical is based on the real-life experiences of the Von Trapp family. The young actors The role of Maria Rainer will be portrayed by Chelsea Marinaro, Captain Von Trapp will be played by Matt Chastain. The roles of the Von Trapp children will be performed by Christina Comizio as Liesl; Jack Rich as Friedrich; Alyssa Morrissey as Louisa; Will Youells as Kurt; Grace Logue as Brigitta; Kailey Pisani as Marta; Melinda Stackpole as Gretl. Michael Easton will portray Rolf, the young military boy who is Leisl’s love interest. Sophia Contreni plays Mother Abbess. Amber Blakovich, Miranda Cooper and Vivian Ball play the nuns who ask in song “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?” Elsa Schraeder, the Captain’s fiancée, is portrayed by Chelsea Imbimbo; and his good friend, Max, will be played by David Grice. Portraying the Captain’s faithful household servants are Rebecca Blomgren as Frau Schmidt and Andrew Kraus as Franz. Completing the cast are 30 more students who portray a variety of roles in the ensemble. The show is directed by Barri Weinstein. Vocal Director is Kevin Boehm, with choreography by Dana Ziegler. The pit conductor is Max Taylor.
